“I Wanted To Say” by Mamta Madhavan

I wanted to say

This morning
watching the sea
reminded me
of your eyes

those glints
arresting the
sun’s vitality
on a May morning.

But I felt doleful
to see rising waves
leave trails on
the sand
swallowing footsteps.

Mamta Madhavan has been writing poetry in English, her second language, from the age of 13. Her poems have been published in various literary journals and zines all over. She also pens
